LabFlow: watch a specimen become a signed result

LabFlow is a laboratory information system, the software a clinical lab runs its orders, samples and results through. It covers ordering, specimen custody, result validation and release, on the web and on Android.
What is LabFlow?
A laboratory information system that many labs share on one install, each lab’s data kept inside its own boundary; every list query has to prove that boundary from its own filters. It also runs Westgard quality control, the standard statistical checks that a lab’s test runs are in control.
Results move out as files. HL7 v2 and FHIR, the formats hospital systems exchange, export and import that way. There’s no live feed.
Who is LabFlow for?
Clinical laboratories, and everyone along the chain: the front desk that registers a patient, the technician working the list, the pathologist who signs the report at the end. Each role gets its own screens.
What did we build?
A chain of six links (patient, order, specimen, test, result, report) where none collapses into another. A patient is a person, not a visit. An order can need three tubes, and a single tube can serve six tests.
The database generates the accession number, never a client counter, so two technicians receiving at the same second can’t produce the same one. It carries a check digit, since people copy it by hand.
A result is versioned, never overwritten. A correction is a new version, and the earlier value stays on record as the one a clinician acted on, which is what an incident review needs. A report is a snapshot signed by a person, and an amendment tells the clinician who got the original.
