Five other ways to get your product built, and how we compare

You don’t have to hire an agency to get software made. These are the five routes founders weigh against us, what each one does well, and the jobs where we’d point you to it ourselves.

The five routes

Each page says when that route is the better buy. Start with the one you’re weighing.

  1. A big agency

Better when the work needs a lot of people at the same hour.

  2. A solo freelancer

Better for one small job with a clear finish line.

How the work gets done here

AI agents write most of our code now. A person on the team decides what they build and how, reads what comes back, and runs it before the milestone link reaches you. Nothing ships on an agent’s word.

Ahsan Mahmood, who manages the Zaions team, puts the change at 10 to 100 times: work that used to take a month now takes a day or a week. That’s his own statement from doing the work, not a measurement, so read it beside the dates below.

What happened, and when

Each date comes from the project’s commit history or our own records. None of them predicts your project: your brief gets its own estimate.

zaions.com

This site, planned, written, designed and rebuilt from nothing.

  1. The planning kit, the story for the site and the approved home page copy.

  2. docs.zaions.com went live.

  3. The design prototype was approved, and the rebuilt site took over zaions.com the same day.

  4. Moved to a new host.

Trizlink

Short links, a link-in-bio page and social posts in one workspace, with one analytics layer across all three.

  1. First commit of the rebuild. The database and its access rules were tested against sample rows that day.

  2. The marketing pages, the blog, the legal pages and the prerendered HTML search engines read.

  3. The rebuilt app took over trizlink.com.

  4. Latest commit we checked. Still being worked on.

Native Update

Over-the-air updates, app-store update flows and in-app reviews for Capacitor apps: web apps shipped as mobile apps.

  1. First commit.

  2. First version published on npm, the public registry developers install code from.

  3. Latest commit we checked. npm showed version 4.2.2 that day.
